Taranaki and New Plymouth
My best photos of the trip are from here. Mountain views, calm lake paths, a shiny mirrored building, a sunset, and one quiet dinner.
Not a lot of activities. Just a lot of different things to look at: mountain, water, a mirror building, evening light, and one simple dinner.
After all the grey steam and lake weather, New Plymouth was clear, open, and easy to photograph.
The Taranaki view was the main event. Clear winter day, which is what I always hope for on a road trip. Bright sky, calm water, the mountain just sitting there in the back.
Plus some variety. Same stop: lake and mountain, then shiny city buildings, sunset, dinner.

Way clearer than Rotorua and Taupo. Less mist, less heavy cloud, more room to just stand there and look.

After all the nature, a mirrored building out of nowhere. Very modern, and a nice break from lakes and sky.
Food Note
Simple dinner to end a road day
Not a review, just a quiet dinner on the road. It’s here because it was a relief to sit down after moving all day.
Personal take
Rotorua and Taupo were the moody start. New Plymouth looked the best on camera.
