South Korea / 8-19 Dec 2022

A winter route split between Busan sea air and Seoul city light.

This Korea trip felt balanced in a way I still like: Seoul gave the route structure, Busan added color and coastline, and the food stayed comforting the whole way through. It was cold, easy to photograph, and full of places that felt different without ever feeling difficult to enjoy.

Route

Seoul, Busan, and a Gyeonggi day out

We landed in Seoul, moved south for the fuller Busan stretch, then came back north for hanok streets, cafe pauses, one colder day outside the city, and a skyline-heavy finish.

Vibe

Winter city travel with food built into every chapter

This one leans less on checklist tourism and more on movement, street texture, warm meals, coastal pauses, and small corners that made the route feel personal.

Busan Mood

Gwangan Bridge at dusk

The water was dark, the bridge lights were simple, and the whole city felt calmer than I expected from a coastal stop that size.

Comfort Meal

Warm soup after the coast

Korean winter food worked exactly how it should: hot, filling, and even more satisfying after a long outside day.

Seoul Texture

Hanok streets and cafe pauses

The older corners of Seoul gave the trip a softer rhythm between the modern buildings and the bigger skyline views.

Final View

City stretched out below us

The last Seoul skyline stop made the trip feel complete: dense, bright, and much larger than the city ever felt from street level.

Original Itinerary

How the Korea route was laid out

8 Dec / Arrival

Seoul first, then straight into travel mode

The first day was mostly logistics, but it set the overall pace: smooth arrival, clear structure, then move quickly into the real route.

  • Jakarta to Singapore, then on to Incheon.
  • First Seoul check-in before the southbound move.
  • The trip opened practical rather than dramatic, which actually made the rest feel easier.
9-12 Dec / Busan stretch

The coastal chapter carried the color

Busan had the fullest sightseeing rhythm in the planner and gave the trip its brightest contrast against the winter cold.

  • Haeundae, Sealife Busan Aquarium, Gwangalli Beach, and Gwangan Bridge at night.
  • Gamcheon Culture Village, Songdo Air Cruise, Dongbaek Island, Haedong Yonggungsa, and Jukseong Church.
  • Jagalchi Market, BIFF Square, Shinsegae Centum City, and a lot of warm meal stops built into each day.
13-16 Dec / Seoul middle days

Hanok streets, malls, and one colder detour

Coming back to Seoul shifted the trip away from the coast and into a more mixed city rhythm with culture, shopping, and easier walking days.

  • HYBE Insight, The Hyundai Seoul, and a softer first day back north.
  • Cafe Onion Anguk, hanbok around Bukchon, Ikseondong, Insadong, and evening food stops.
  • Everland, COEX, Bongeunsa Temple, K-Star Road, and Garosu-gil across the colder mid-trip stretch.
17-19 Dec / Final Seoul finish

Skyline views, markets, and the clean landing

The end of the trip pulled together all the bigger Seoul visuals: tower views, dense shopping streets, and a very clear last-day energy.

  • N Seoul Tower, Itaewon, Myeongdong, and Dongdaemun / DDP.
  • Lotte World Tower, MOCA, Songpa Naru Park, and one last round of Korean comfort food.
  • Final airport run back through Singapore and home to Jakarta.
